Application of silica aerogel felt

Feb 09, 2023

The aerogel material was prepared by fiber reinforced technology, and was prepared by dipping sol, gel, solvent displacement and supercritical drying processes. It has the characteristics of low thermal conductivity, high hydrophobicity, good shock absorption and natural fire prevention. At the same time, flexible or rigid inorganic fiber reinforced aerogel materials can be produced according to demand, which can be used for thermal insulation and flame retardancy of new energy commercial vehicles, thermal insulation and energy conservation and anti-corrosion protection of oil pipelines, thermal insulation and energy conservation of heating pipelines, thermal insulation and fire prevention of building exterior walls, thermal insulation of high-temperature pipelines and equipment in the thermal power field, cold insulation of pipelines and equipment in deep fields such as LNG, etc.

The hydrophobicity of aerogel can make the insulation layer of pipeline waterproof and prevent condensation reaction caused by temperature difference. To achieve the same thermal insulation effect, the thickness of aerogel material is smaller (only 1/3 of rock wool and 1/5 of expanded perlite), which significantly improves the pipeline layout rate, reduces the earthwork quantity and duration, and further reduces the comprehensive cost.

With excellent performance in many aspects, glass fiber aerogel felt has a good effect in thermal insulation applications on heavy oil production steam pipelines, oil refining pipelines, oil field steam injection boilers, distillation towers, reaction pipelines, storage tanks, pumps, valves, natural gas and LNG liquefied gas pipelines, deep-sea pipelines and other equipment. At present, refineries of global large-scale petrochemical enterprises, such as ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, PetroChina, Huachang Chemical, etc., largely use silica fiber aerogel felt as thermal insulation material.
